Patch Notes - Beta 0.7.0


We interrupt your daily grub to bring you a new Potatostrike patch.  This is not a joke!

This patch has been cooking for a while now. Version 0.7.0 has a lot of changes, and a decent amount of new stuff too! Endless Mode has been added, allowing players to test their skill against opponents that progressively become harder to kill. Survive as long as you can to reach higher scores and greater bragging rights (do Potatoes even brag?).

Additionally, 5 new Potatoes have been added to the game. They all bring brand new mechanics to the game, from an Ordnance-focused playstile, to power-ups that grant you super powers! These Potatoes have to be unlocked to use, either through a specific score (with a brand new scoring system), or reaching a high enough COMBO (kills without getting hit).

Here's a full list of patch notes:

  • Added Endless Mode.
    • Unlocked after finishing Mission 3 End I.
  • Added Score counter.
  • Added kill COMBO counter.
  • Added Score multiplier.
  • Added a language toggle button to the main menu.
  • New Potato added: Bombstrike
    • Slower Weapon fire rate.
    • Higher Ordnance ammo.
    • Regenerates Ordnance ammo periodically.
  • New Potato added: Brushstrike
    • Swings a giant Brush around itself.
    • Brush hits enemies and blocks projectiles.
    • Brush can collect pickups.
    • Brush scales with Potato level.
  • New Potato added: Freakstrike
    • Summons power-ups every 10 COMBO.
    • Power-ups bounce around the screen until collected.
    • Touch a power-up to activate it.
  • New Potato added: Commandostrike
    • Summons allied units periodically.
    • Summoned ships scale with Potato level.
    • Summoned ships change with higher COMBO.
  • New Potato added: Aerostrike
    • Slower initial fire rate.
    • Fire rate increases with COMBO.
  • Readded flight sounds for Missiles, Rockets, and Bombs.
  • Modified the directional sound system.
  • All pickups now award a small amount of score when collected.
  • Quitting a mission now saves your score.
  • Made the background of UI windows darker.
  • Reworked the Credits menu into a scrolling style.
    • A bug with the game engine makes the text appear distorted. I can't fix this until the game engine is updated.
  • Modified the coloring of the Zombiestrike to be tinted green.
  • 23mm now gains +1 damage at level 5.
  • Increased weapon spread of 23mm at level 1 from 12 up to 14.
  • Increased weapon spread of 23mm at level 3 from 14 up to 16.
  • Plasma now gains +1 projectile at level 4 and increased firing speed at level 5.
  • Decreased Spookystrike's Jack-o'-Lantern Drones' weapon cooldown from 12 down to 10.
  • Spookystrike's Jack-o'-Lantern Drones' weapon damage increases every 4 Potato levels.
  • All Ordnance weapons gain damage on levels 4 and 5.
  • Updated Unlock Reward display system.
  • Fixed a bug that made the Ironstrike invisible when its armor was broken.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the game from keeping track of the player's level when loading a checkpoint.
  • Fixed Starchless's Wave attack death particle facing the wrong direction.
  • Fixed the Digistrike's Rotating Shields not vanishing upon death.
  • Fixed a technical sound error when the Javelin's laser beam is charging to attack.
  • Attempted fix to enemy lasers sometimes vanishing when the player is dead or invulnerable.
  • Modified the Potato Lifebar selection system.
  • Updated Input Library to version 8.1.2.
  • Updated Lexicon Library to version 3.0.8.
